WELCOME MESSAGE |
John Tallmadge and Henry Harrington provide in their introduction to Reading Under the Sign of Nature. New Essays in Ecocriticism ((2000) the following state of the art concerning these studies: "The field of ecocriticism has grown dramatically in the past few years. It now boasts a national organization, a journal, MLA affiliation, a proliferation of courses across the land, and a lengthening shelf of books-lengh studies." (ix) ////
This Home Page here intends to take the field's theories and practices to Latin American literature(s) & culture(s). Such an initiative does not obliterate neither a) the existence of an ongoing body of ecocritical knowledge and creativity already advanced by scholars and writers; b) nor that the region is a sort of local abstraction in a global context, which justifies the comparativist approach when necessary.
